The French patrol also split into two. Five voltigeurs were sent around the outside of the inn to fire at the approaching British and to cut of an escape route. The second group, pictured here, headed up the road towards the inn. Sergeant Raffarim leads the remaining voltigeurs and Lt Chirac is on the road with the regular infantry.
